Characteristics[edit]
Essentially a stripped-down B-Wing starfighter command capsule, the Hive Fighter was designed as a fast attack starfighter using components readily available in any units currently employing the B-Wing. Given the proliferation of the well-known craft - and the lack of bombing missions available outside of major conflicts - it made sense to allow for a configuration that could use available parts in a needed capacity.
Most major New Republic fleets initially scorned the model, but it was found to be a tough design, capable of anti-piracy and planetary defense roles. Eventually it found ready service in the Corellian Security Forces, often against the will of many Corellian officers, who wanted to maintain local-only craft. However, the pilots assigned to the fighters swore by their craft and it soon gained a solid following.
