Crusaders

The Crusaders, as they are referred to by those who are unlucky enough to cross paths with them, are a religious human-centric army stemming from mostly unexplored sections of The Unknown Regions. Few from outside know much, if anything about them; only that they are single minded, ruthless and fanatical. They exist, it is said, only to do the work of their nameless God, which translates to the invasion, occupation and indoctrination of entire planets. They do no tolerate questions to their faith, finding the very concept that it could be wrong loathsome and blasphemous. The lucky blasphemers are killed on the spot. They also bear an especial distaste for non-humans, killing them on sight more often than not, convinced that they are abominations or demons. They hold lawlessness and decadence in great contempt; adhering to strict codes of behavior and rigid caste system themselves.
First Contact[edit]
Although rare rumors have been heard about them for many years from the rare explorer little thought was ever given to them. When The Osk Company first encountered them is unknown, it is believed by some that they are a horror brought on by Snipes careless ransacking of certain regions of unknown space; for when they descended on Eyesore they did so in force, conquering the single city of the planet in a matter of hours.
This was the darkest chapter in Osk history, as the Crusaders ransacked the town, destroying everything they considered a vice, killing or torturing every non-human and half-breed that was unable to hide. They burned, crucified and destroyed any who would not submit to their doctrine; they were total dicks about it.
Many Oskers endured, hiding the non humans and wanted, helping them escape or make it to the resistance hidden in long forgotten catacombs and sewers beneath the mountain housing the installation.
After a few months Snipes rallied the Company that remained and lead the retaking of the world in one of the bloodiest and most costly battles that the Galaxy would never know of.
Method[edit]
The Crusaders believe in confronting everything head on with overwhelming force and, while crude, it is very effective. Their archaic armor hearkens back to a more savage era, their reliance on melee weapons and weapons dissimilar from everything the galaxy is used to encountering make them a terrifying foe. They are fearless in the face of adversity, charging blindly through fire and blaster bolts heedless of their lives until, at times, they simply overwhelm the defenders with the number of dead.
They reinforce all of their teachings with pain, and use pain to pull forth confessions from sinners and demons, having taken the art of torture back in time to it's most barbaric. They do this with an easy conscious and the earnest belief that they are doing right in releasing a soul from it's sins before dispatching it to be judged by their creator. It is this religious fervor that terrifies many; many survivors of their occupation of Eyesore never fully recover from the experience.
