The Dagger-class Heavy Corvette is a capital ship class used by the Galactic Empire. It was designed for system patrol and blockade runner defense, particularly around more remote worlds.

Background[edit]

As the Galactic Civil War expanded to more remote worlds, there grew an increasing need for capital craft that could serve a role in defending worlds against the scourge of pirates, raiders, blockade runners, and rebel craft in general. Many of these ships are quick and highly maneuverable, trading armament and shielding for weaponry.

Characteristics[edit]

Armament[edit]

As one would imagine, picket craft often wish to disable and capture vessels rather than destroy them. The Dagger-class has a variety of weapons to do this. Primary turbolaser cannon are capable of inflicting heavy damage, while an array of ion cannon disable the craft. A newly developed interdiction field generator has been integrated to the Dagger-class design. While not creating anything larger than an area effect field, nominally no more than a few hundred meters, the field is enough to disrupt any attempted jump to lightspeed. The speed of the corvette, combined with the additional weapons and technology, cause major issues for any freighter trying to evade capture.
