Introduction

Diplomacy is the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of groups or states, using persuasion, tact, and conversational skill in order to gain strategic advantage or to find mutually acceptable solutions to a common challenge. It does not include the use of physical force.

Mission - "I'm a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan..."

Non-commissioned Officer

You will engage in negotiation with a small faction on a VE-held planet. The other party in the negotiation may fit one of several categories:

• A local businessperson. Your objective being to negotiate a basic contract to purchase materials from the person's company on behalf of the Navy.
• A local security officer. Your objective being to achieve the release of Navy crewmen who were jailed for crime ______. Serious crimes should include the promise of military trial by the VEN.
• Any other similar scenario that an NHC member pre-approves for this ancillary.

Officer

You will engage in negotiation with the representative of a foreign group or planet:

• The leadership of an anti-VE protest movement. Your objective being to ease their concerns and prevent a rebellion.
• The leader of a neutral world. Your objective being to negotiate a treaty from them promising protection from the Vast Empire in exchange for their allegiance.
• The leader of a small group of systems. Your objective being to negotiate a Treaty of Amity (aka, non-aggression) between the VE and the small group of systems.
