Personality
Having grown with little contact with other people his own age always talking to the same people on board Gregory tends to be a bit secluded from others. He acts well with people he's familiar with and is quite friendly. Not to comfortable with a weapon but with flying he keeps his cool when under fire.
History
Gregory was born on a merchant ship and so never really had a home. Having spent most of his childhood with his father onboard some ship or other he never spent much time on any planet and always felt somewhat Agoraphobic whenever they stepped off the ship. Ever since he was young he'd always been eager to fly. His father took him out in small shuttle's and thought him how to fly. His father had been part of a Rebel squadron for some time but now was a merchant. He was a natural born flier having spent his childhood on board a ship and with the teachings of a former fighter pilot that had served for many years.
Gregory had no friends (except the staff on the ship who weren't much company) as he hadn't gone to a school. he was thought by a well educated engineer on board the ship. He met some people when they were on a world for a while and generally got on well with them. They never lasted long as before they really got to know each other he would have to leave again. From the first time this happened he was dissappointed as Gregory had looked forward to having a good friend. Every other brief friendship he'd had over the years he managed not to get too attached to the person as he knew he'd have to leave again.
On one brief visit he happened to glance a view of a few Tie interceptors flying just above a planet they were heading to. The speed at which they flew and the swift turns and loops they made they seemed to do with ease. He was amazed by them. He spent a lot more time practicing flying as he knew what he wanted to do.
After a few weeks Gregory went to find the nearest imperial recruiter. He new from the moment he saw those pilots that he wanted to be one of them. Every night he can imagine the frusration on his fathers face as he read the letter he had left him. The anger and the sense of being betrayed. He was following in his fathers footssteps in becoming a pilot but not the sort of pilot he imagined his father wanted him to be.
