The Growler-class Communications Ship is a means of expanding Imperial communications networks to unexplored and unconquered regions of space. Lightly armored and with the barest of defensive weapons, the Growlers depend on additional fleet resources and staying off the beaten path to do serve their role as network relays.

Background[edit]
As the fleets moved further from their home ports, expanding our borders ever outward, the need to repair and re-supply those fleets in deep space became apparent. The Provider class allows our fleets to work at maximum range far longer and with greater efficiency. With eight modular cargo holds, machine shops and recycling units, they can produce almost any necessary component that a vessel might need.
