One of the disturbingly accurate charges made against the Empire by the Rebellion/New Republic are the weaponized biological experiments conducted by Imperial scientists. This ranged the gamut from crop and vegetation mutation or destruction to manufactured illnesses and genetic genocide weapons, to even experiments in immortality and work with reanimating the dead.
