The Invader-class Troop Transport is a capital ship class used by the Galactic Empire. A variant of the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser, it is stripped down to the bare minimum of crew and weapons systems, leaving just the cramped facilities necessary to transport a full Imperial Army battlegroup. The Invader-class is primarily used to augment the Imperial Navy's large Evakmar-KDY Troop Transports, providing smaller, faster transport capacity to rapidly move troops from planet to planet.

Characteristics[edit]
The Invader-class assault carrier carries a full battlegroup of any type, with sufficient supplies for a full month of operations. To its credit, the Invader is one of the only troop carriers liked by both the Army and the Navy, since there is little contact between the two branches during day-to-day operations. Outwardly, the Invader looks most like the Interceptor. The four squadrons are usually substituted with the typical Army support wing of forty fighters. Four shuttles, twelve drop ships, and a dozen landing barges carry troops to planetary surfaces. In its scarce use, the Invader is used either to supplement the assault forces onboard and Imperial Star Destroyer or to defend space outside a hostile planet where few enemy capital ships are around.
