Known Commanders

The Monarch is a Dreadnaught-Class Heavy Cruiser in service with the Vast Empire Navy, currently in the Second Vast Imperial Fleet and under Commander Drac's command in Task Force Aurek. The ship was originally commissioned as the Ad Valorem in 8 ABY, but after the Battle of the Meccheon System the ship as re-christened as the Monarch. The ship's captain is Captain Bacredi, VEN.

History[edit]

The Ad Valorem[edit]

The Ad Valorem—meaning "according to value"—was sponsored by Commander William Monmouth, who later became its captain a year later as Captain William Monmouth. Its first XO was Lieutenant Commander Wenson Pillinck, who hailed from the same graduating class at Abrae as Monmouth. The Valorem's first battle was part of the Third Fleet's formation in the Trenwyth System where they soundly defeated the New Republic forces. For another year the Valorem saw no battle experience and they merely participated in routine patrols in and around the Vectra and Epsilon systems. Around 10 ABY, Monmouth was given a higher command as Head of Defence for the Epsilon System, a desk job (something that he had requested), and Pillinck was given the command of a Carrack. The Ad Valorem was sent to Abrae shipyards for major re-fittings and upgrades, and was sent out three months later an entirely different ship. The new captain—Zhar Bacredi—requested that the floorplans of modern dreadnaughts be placed on every deck except the bridge, where he and his new bridge crew designed a battle-ready station which was composed of high chairs that could be tilted back (along with data screens) during battle situations, and around 10 feet of thick armor between the bridge and the pilots' bubble.
