THIS ARTICLE IS CURRENTLY OUTDATED. IT IS UP TO THE NHC TO DECIDE WHO GETS TO TAKE THE FOCE.

Introduction[edit]

The average pilot is capable of incredible things... They can post thirty times in one day, single-handedly take on another squadron in a game of X-wing alliance- even create a piece of art that is priceless in the eyes of his or her comrades. These are all activities that require activity, skills- precision. Those men and women that make up the officer staff of the Vast Empire Navy are not as few as one would think, but those in the higher rankings are, in fact, incredibly rare. This is not to overwhelm anyone or dishearten them from taking on what is undoubtedly a challenge, but it is a landmark- you can not just get to the top through sheer activity. No, it will requires something even more challenging and consuming than your activity...

In short, the Officer is more than a position or rank, it is a status that enables a single person to change the face of the entire Navy. As a higher ranking officer you can improve, motivate- rebel. You have a definite voice. Though you may know your facts, like the average acceleration rating for a VEN TIE Interceptor, or the way to correct a bad low or high yo-yo: can you adapt it? Evolve it maybe? Create a format involving that information and apply it to a web page? Come up with a new way to record pilot information? Simplify posting? It is the ability to create or invent that we desire in an officer. Though some people will receive their officerhood through long-term service, it is those in the top tiers that solve the problems that sometimes seem without a solution. They, unlike most satisfied customers, can not look at the product's face value and be obliged to buy it- they are analytical and they do their research. They have their ears and eyes in everything to analyze and dissolve a problem. Furthermore, they are never in the middle- they always have a side in a decision making process. In order to survive, however, these officers must be able to defend their decisions- this requires a balanced approach to problem-solving and an in-depth understanding of the subject matter. This can not be easily taught. We simply will not allow aloof officers into our higher command positions, though; to do so would be a self-defeating premise of which we are in no mind to even consider. You must be confident, objective and, most of all, determined to serve the members of the VEN and VE above yourself. The job requires sacrifice in ways that can not be easily explained; one will find that this requirement is often less debilitating and more empowering, both in the VE as well as real-life. You will be so sure of your choices one moment, and then, after they've been dashed back to the conciliatory rocks from whence they came, humbled and decidedly more determined to be better prepared for the next conflict. Officers are not treated like children and they will not act like them- they are people of composure and forthright conviction. Have I described you accurately?

If this is the case, then by all means- contact the Naval Training Officer and request a suitable challenge by which he may grade you and then, perhaps, you may achieve the coveted Fleet Officer Candidacy Exam Certificate (=FOCE=). There are no extra stars associated with this certification- you simply pass or you do not. If you believe yourself up to the challenge and have taken all tests previous to this as well as have some command experience... Give us a call.
