When first encountered by Imperial scouts, Osk 91 was composed of five thousand employees of military-economic consortium mining the planet for its resources. The planet appears to be the site of a catastrophic ecological event, perhaps the result of a military conflict. One former military analyst compared it to the aftermath of a Base Delta Zero incident, which would be unlikely as a Star Destroyer has likely never crossed the Besdoaari Belt.

That said, the intervening years have brought some recovery to the world. The Vast Empire had offered the planet to the pirate band known as the Astral Guard if they would clear out the local mercenary forces that had taken the planet's mining operations over. The mission essentially broke the back of both the mercs AND the Astral Guard and the planet remained untouched until a consortium of local space and Imperial investors brought back the mining concerns and also began some limited recovery of the environment. Full-blown Coru-forming will never succeed on such a ruined world, but some limited atmosphere is coming back, as are basic levels of vegetation, primarily fungi and molds.

Along with a half dozen mining ventures, the planet also has some environmental disaster teams guiding the droids involved in toxic cleanup and resource recovery. One archeological team is also investigating the history of the world, hopefully to find some hint as to the prior denizens and the cause of their death.

Geographic features[edit]

Flora & Fauna[edit]

Flora[edit]

Primarily lichen, molds, and fungi introduced during Coru-forming operations. Some biological remains of pre-disaster have been recovered but DNA sequences are too damaged to reproduce.

Fauna[edit]

As with plant life, remains of pre-disaster animals and possible sentient species have been recovered but gene sequencing of any remaining tissue has been inconclusive. Perhaps further searching will result in recovery of useful material.

History[edit]

Galactic Republic[edit]

Little to nothing is known about the planet other than recent history. All queries on the original survey logs have come up empty, leading some to wonder whether the planet had any history involving the Jedi Order as this is the usual reason for a data purge concerning Old Republic knowledge. While more information may be revealed in the future through local artifact and ruins, what we do know is that some form of catastrophic event ravaged the planet in the not-too-distant past.

Galactic Empire[edit]

In investigating the Thilidian Sector, Osk 91 was touted as a potential waypoint on the trade and transit lanes being rediscovered by Imperial scouts. This assessment was downgraded once a site visit was established. At the time, the planet was a total ruin populated by a consortium of pirate gangs.

The Astral Guard was contracted with clearing out the criminal gangs and did so successfully, with the unfortunate loss of much of the Astral Guard's resources and personnel. The planetary deed issued to the Guard was rescinded due to the group's inability to properly protect and hold the planet. Imperial Center claimed the land and access rights and opened up the planet to both mining interests and Imperial reclamation teams. The planet now enjoys some light industry and mineral rights mining, while the planet is slowly being healed to support the most simple of plant life. A weak atmosphere has been restored and while true biodiversity may never be accomplished, the planet is 10-15 years away from having a self-sustaining ecosystem.

A recent agreement with the occasional pirate Snipes and his crewers have turned over planetary protection to his domain. All industry and science teams will operate as usual, though the security arrangments may differ in some ways. They have taken to calling the planet "Eyesore" for obvious reasons due to the planetary devastation. Other sector travellers have begun using the nomenclature Isor, which has been deemed slightly less derogatory. Time will tell which name, if either, will stand as convention.

The Locker[edit]

The Locker is the name given to the archaic military base found upon the planet by what would come to be known as 'The Osk Company'. It's old, busted to hell, but large. It contains a variety of different and sometimes mysterious rooms. For the most part only the main command center and a small part of the barracks are used. The name is derived from a giant storage area at the very bottom where the pirates of The Osk Company store their unused loot.
