Outline of Current Army Structure

The Army is broken into several corps to assist in organization and allowing specialized training. At this time, the Army consists of near 2,150,000 personnel stationed on Tadath, and near 210,000 in support roles. It is estimated that the Reserves contains an additional 750,000 military and support personnel ready to be called upon as needed. The employment of civilian specialists as well as mercenary units is not unheard of within the Vast Empire Army although no accurate figures are available for this. The numbers do not include the local forces maintained by some planets within the Vast Empire system, Cepany for example maintains a force of approximately 750,000 members of its military prior to becoming a Vast Empire planet.

Corps

Army Corps

The Army Corps are the primary corps of the Vast Empire's military. They receive basic training lasting two months (sometimes shorter when needed) and then are placed into a post almost immediately after. From the Army Corps is where the other Corps (except for the Engineering and Medical Corps) recruit (or draft) their newest soldiers. On Tadath the Army Corps has an approximate unit strength of 1,800,000 soldiers spread through fourty corps.

Stormtrooper Corps

The elite infantry forces of the Empire, the Stormtroopers are extensively trained and are the best troops the Vast Empire can field into combat. Due to the extensive training and requirements, the Stormtroopers are only able to keep one Corps filled, despite their best efforts to expedite training without increasing trainee casualties. Unit strength is at approximately 30,000 soldiers. Tadath is the only planet with Stormtroopers stationed.

Security Corps

The Security Corps are spread throughout every major installation that the VE operates. Trained primarily in defense tactics and crowd control, the Security Corps serve many roles, but their primary job is security, hence the name. Their secondary role is acting as a police force on planets. Occasionally they may be found on capitol ships, such as the 121st Security Legion on the CRS Manticore. There are three Security Corps employed on Tadath, the First and Second, that have a combined unit strength of 120,000 soldiers.

Star Corps

The Star Corps are the marines of the army. They serve as a defense on space stations, starships, ship yards, and even space ports on the planets. Roles vary diversely, from tasks similar to the Security Corps on space stations, to conducting boarding operations on enemy vessels. Unit strength for Tadath is approximately 180,000 soldiers in three corps, two serving the offensive fleet and another serving the defensive fleet with a 45,000 soldiers for each of those three. The remaining 45,000 serve on the space stations, ship yards, and space ports.

Aerospace Corps

Although the Navy provides much of the air/space support that the army requires, sometimes it's too much of a hassle to request the support, especially in an operation where time is of the essence. Thus the Aerospace Corps of the Army, a unit of 15,000 ready to fly in defensive and offensive operations as soon as Army High Command gives the word. The creation of this corp is still controversial to the Navy, and they attempt to ensure that it at least doesn't grow larger.

Engineering Corps

The Engineering Corps don't truly belong to the Army exclusively, but they are not truly separate as well. They technically belong both to the Navy and Army, and have elements in both. They could be considered separate from the Army and Navy, but this is not the case as they receive their orders directly from both the Naval and Army High Commands. In the Army, their tasks focus primarily on building bases, sapper missions, and disaster relief for civilians. Unit strength of those assigned to Tadath is approximately 90,000 spread through two corps. This does not include member of other corps that have received combat engineer training from the Engineering Corps.

Medical Corps

Much like the Engineering Corps, the Medical Corps do not solely belong to the Army, but they do receive assignments and stations from both High Commands. Their duties are primarily operating hospitals on board starships and within bases. When the Army engages in an extensive ground campaign, the Medical Corps are expected to bring medical attention to the battlefield with field hospitals. Unit Strength on Tadath is approximately 120,000 in three corps. This does not include members of other corps that have received combat medic training from the Medical Corps.

Special Forces Elements

Commandos

The core special forces of the army, Commandos are the best of the best. There are 50 teams, each of 40 soldiers approximately. Each team is broken down into groups of five to eight commandos (depending on the team's specialty). Commandos were recruited from other corps of the Army, including the Medical Corps in some cases. Once the recruit is a member of the Commandos, they are stripped of rank and position in their former corp and given a new niche in a commando team.

Advanced Recon Commandos

The ARCs are typically chosen of the Stormtrooper Corps, however they have recruited several members of other corps. The ARCs are the commandos that focus on tactical response and sabotage missions. Their existence is known to the rest of the VE, however no one below the High Command knows who actually is a member (save for the members themselves of course). ARCs serve in their normal elements until a mission requires their team to assemble. There are 34 teams of five to six members, each team designated by a letter of the Aurebesh alphabet.

Other Special Forces?

Force trained commandos are whispered about in hushed tones at the barracks and android soldiers are barely even spoken of in fear of being replaced by an exact replica android, among even more crazy and insane rumors that we won't even mention here...
