Promoting/Medaling
The Navy has two primary assets to help us determine the degree of promotion or medaling that should be awarded to a member:
In addition, we also have a Fleet Medal Board, which lists the awards and the members who've received them.
Now, promotions are actually pretty straight forward as far as the actual process. Depending on the level of promotion/medal, may want to consult with your XO first, but once you're certain of your choice you can: 1) Inform your superior officers of the choice and then promote the member yourself at the week's meeting; or 2) Make a "request" for a promotion. If you'll glance down the list of promotions and medals, there, you'll notice that certain ones, in the lower areas of course, can actually be performed by the Squadron Commander. If you can- certainly do so.
