Ship Captain Fitness Exam

Welcome Midshipman, the time has come for you to take the Ship Captain Fitness Exam, and to prove your capability to be the Commanding Officer of one of our fine warships. In order for you to complete this exam, your Training Officer will instruct you to write your exam on Story Prompt A, Story Prompt B, or Story Prompt C. Your story should be placed on the Storyboard, with the topic being: (Name):SCFE

Story Prompt A: Patrol Mission

For this prompt, you, as the Commanding Officer of a Warden Class Light Cruiser, are going to engage in a standard system patrol mission. This story requires 3 posts, 1000+ words each, and the posts will be done in the following way:

• The first post will deal with the more mundane elements of a Ship Captain's job, you will be at Platform Cappadocious, taking on both additional crew (The rest of your NPC crew beyond the 6-8 you have developed so far) and supplies for the patrol mission, exactly what you cover is up to you. Once your TO, the XNT, or the CNT have passed you for the first post, you will begin work on the second.
• In the second post: While on patrol, you must stop and perform a customs inspection of a freighter, the outcome of this post is up to you.
• In the third and final post: You will have to deal with some sort of surprise which your TO, XNT, or CNT thinks up.

Story Prompt B: Escort Mission

For this prompt, you, as the Commanding Officer of a Warden Class Light Cruiser are going to be assigned to escort a couple of transports from Platform Cappadocious to Daishi Station. This story requires 3 posts, 1000+ words each, and the posts will be done in the following way:

• The first post will have you joining up with transports and preparing to leave the system.
• The second post will have you making the jump to hyperspace, possible surprise (at discretion of TO)
  • Surprise: Interdiction, you are brought out of hyperspace early by an Interdictor, you must fight and keep the enemy at bay long enough for the transports to get out of field and jump. (to continue to destination)
• The final post will have you arriving at the destination, and docking, as well as a possible surprise (at discretion of TO)
  • Surprise: Ambush as you come out of hyperspace, have to fight your way until help arrives from the VE outpost you are transporting to.

Story Prompt C: Distress Call

For this prompt, you, as the Commanding Officer of a Warden Class Light Cruiser, are going to be engaged in a standard system patrol mission, when you receive a distress call from a transport or freighter and it's Guardian Class escort. This story requires 3 posts, 1000+ words each, and the posts will be done in the following way:

• On patrol, receive distress call and respond to location
• Arrive, enter combat
• Combat resolve, either
  • Victory, manage to make enemy retreat
  • Victory, manage to hold off enemy long enough for transport to escape
  • Defeat, transport is destroyed

All outcomes CAN receive a passing grade.

Grading

Upon Completion of the story, it will be graded, and once you are passed, you will be authorized to complete Section IV of the SCTP if you have completed Section III
