Appearance

Urbaan is a tall, wiry Human who looks thin from not eating enough rather than exercise. He has non-descript brown hair and average features. Urbaan always appears as though he is trying to blend in with a crowd, which he does splendidly until you make eye contact. His eyes are steel gray and seem to pierce right through whatever he is looking at. His hands and feet are worn and calloused. Urbaan favors utility clothing with a faded Bombers Jacket.

Personality

Urbaan almost constantly wears a smirk, unless he finds something very challenging or dangerous. This is because he truly finds most things amusing. He has the rough chuckle of a survivor that doesn’t mesh well with his age. Urbaan does not make friends easily and few people even know his first name, but those he does befriend find him helpful, engaging and funny. He must constantly challenge himself in order to stay focused on what he is doing. As an annoying little personality quirk, he likes to lead conversations into battles of minutia, saying things like “…well that’s all well and good, but first one must posit that you exist in the first place.” or “…look, when you can tell me the actual thrust to lift ratio of an ARC 170, then we can continue this conversation.”

History

Jax Urbaan was born on Coruscant in one of the planets finest hospitals. His father, Aran, was the Chief Financial Officer for one of the city-planet’s largest droid construction companies. Unfortunately, all of the money and influence in the galaxy couldn’t save his mother, Shir, when an embolism burst in her brain during labor. Shir Urbaan died of a massive stroke as Jax Urbaan was being lifted from the womb. Aran was devastated by the death of his wife, and his work suffered. His lack of supervision, finally led to the corruption and demise of his company, and the ruining of the Urbaan family. Due to the number of contracts with the Empire that the company had to default on, it’s senior staff found work…hard to find. Aran Urbaan finally moved to Nar Shadda with his son to work as a book keeper for one of the Hutt crime lords.

Aran struggled to make ends meet, and thus was not around for his son. He set Jax up with a tutor and told him time and again that intelligence was the key to life (not knowing that his son was already too smart for his own good) and that love was the beginning of the path to sorrow. Jax soon began shirking his studies and setting up confrontations with his father, eventually leading up to an explosive fight where Aran told his son to “Shape up or get out!” A stubborn, 15 year old Jax left that day and never looked back.

In Nar Shadda, the best way to stay alive a s a 15 year old boy on your own is to stay busy and stay moving. Jax ended up hanging out at starports and garages, where he watched people much less intelligent than him achieve freedom through flight. One day, he saw an ad for inter-planet hop pilots and he responded, telling the small company that he was 19 with years of experience. Aside from a few close calls, he turned out to be a fine pilot, and was noticed by the local underbelly. When he was approached 3 years later by a representative of a “nameless organization” for a job running contraband, Jax realized that he was too smart to end up spaced for a load of spice and used his savings to by a ticket back to the nearest Imperial world. Upon arrival he happened to walk past a Navy Recruitment Office and figured 3 square meals a day sounded pretty good to a kid with no money or contacts. He went inside asked if he could take an entrance exam. The rest as they say, is History.
