Master Chief Petty Officer

Overview

Rate for members with a long history of consistent activity, characterized by a selfless attitude and dedication to their unit and the division. Members with this rate are addressed properly as either "Master Chief Petty Officer" or simply "Master Chief." This is the highest enlisted rate in the Navy.

The ID Line tag for this rank is: MCPO

Position

Any member holding the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer ranks directly above a Senior Chief Petty Officer and directly below a Warrant Officer 2nd Class.
