"Casabian Brite (Shazam Money) is the former Naval Executive Officer (NXO) of the Vast Empire Navy, an Imperial faction in the Thrawn Era of the SW Universe. He is also the commander of the medium Strike-Class Cruiser Kasabian, Task Force Xesh. Shazam, along with Denethor and Willtconq, was a member of the formal protest and reorganization of the Naval High Command in 12ABY, after which followed the departure of former NCC Japheth. Shazam is known to be "comical from a distance, serious at his heart," and is widely regarded as a champion of the Imperial Fighter Corps. After several years as the distinguished commander of both Nazgul Squadron and Phoenix Wing, he is an ace several times over and is regarded highly for his techincal understanding of ACM (air combat maneuvering). His level of fighter proficiency led him to become a trainer at the Naval Academy, and then, for a short while, the Naval Training Officer (NTO). At this very moment, Shazam is aboard the Kasabian, making offensive stances with Task Force Xesh in various areas of the galaxy." - Official Statement, Office of Naval Records, Abrae

History[edit]
Known mostly for his flying, Casabian Brite is a complicated figure in Imperial Naval History. In particular, historians argue about Brite's motive for entering the Navy. Many speculate that he may have been a hired gun who found an easy gig; however others believe a deeper quality affected his entry. The question of his motive is argued most fiercely because of Brite's high profile and simultaneous tendency to ignore traditional Imperial procedure. Namely, his tendency as a commander to lean toward peaceful takeovers and diplomacy rather than aggressive overthrows. These factors have led some to question his loyalty as a whole to the Vast Empire. Despite theories and quiet accusations, Brite is one of the most highly decorated Imperial officers in all of his faction's Naval history, and as such, has not been questioned. The idea that Casabian is somehow "soft" on enemies is also not given much credibility; he is known famously for his high kill count in fighter battle. The introduction of this page was taken from an official document from the Imperial Navy. The only other items that have been released to the public are the list of his medals, ranks, and the times and dates on which he received them. Further, the names of some of the missions and the kill counts are listed. Otherwise, there is no official biography of Casabian Brite. What you are about to read is a combination of heresay and direct information from the pilots who have heard and know about him:
At the age of 21, Casabian enlisted with a warring clan in deep space known as "The Vast Empire." This Imperial Remnant was well-funded and highly organized. Within a half-decade, the small faction had become a major powerhouse in deep space. More and more systems had aligned and more still were being conquered.
In brief, Casabian quickly ascended the ranks and became known as an ace fighter pilot. His aptitude was so great for fighter craft that it became widely believed that Brite had been trained elsewhere, prior to his entry into the Navy. Among those who had heard of or seen his flying, it was believed that Brite must have been trained by professional pilots of some advanced class. Given his natural aptitude for TIE class fighters, it was further reasoned that he may have received his initial flight training from pilots of the Emperor's Navy, prior to the destruction its final grand battlestation, Deathstar II.
Not much is known about his personal life and history. Some experts in academia do agree that Brite must be of of wealthy upbringing. Since Brite is always on the deepest edges of territorial space, or elsewhere, though, he cannot be easily questioned. Since Casabian is not a politician, he not easily reached by media-types and much of his record remains highly classified. The questions about his loyalty are considered so vague and Casabian's legacy is so strong, that most do not even know there is any question at all. Of greater interest is how so few know Brite's actual name. Casabian Brite is far better known as "Shezame," (pronounced "sheh-same" or "sheh-zame"), Commander of Nazgul Squadron, his legacy.
Taken from Olys Corellisi (Old Corellian), the word "Shezame" is translated into basic "Acro-Bat." It is further simplified by many into various forms: "Shuh-Sam," "Sheh-zam" or "Shazam." The name seems to have originated from the officers who oversaw Casabian's fighter career, most of whom were Corellian. The name describes two of Brite's best known flying qualities: a zeal for aeronatical acrobatics, and perhaps most famously, the lore that he is not a man at all, but rather, a creature from the black of space.
Beyond the very simple explanation given here, only the listing of medals, ranks, and their dates, as well as the names of various missions and battles are available to the public. Much of the public has become aware of the name "Shezame," as well as those of other pilots only by rumor and heresay, or from tails of returning fighter pilots. It has taken years of research to develop the information presented here. Likely, full accounts of the pilot turned commander known as 'Shezame,' will not become public knowledge for many centuries, if not a millenia.
