Lianna is the most populous planet in the Lianna System and is home to 7.1 Billion souls.

Composition and Structure

Chemical Composition

The mass of the Lianna is approximately 1.25 x 10²⁵ kg. It is composed mostly of iron (38.3%), oxygen (24.2%), silicon (15.1%), magnesium (13.7%), sulfur (3.2%), nickel (1.8%), calcium (1.6%), and aluminum (1.2%); with the remaining 0.9% consisting of trace amounts of other elements.

A little more than 51% of Lianna's crust consists of oxygen. The more common rock constituents of Lianna's crust are nearly all oxides; chlorine, sulfur and fluorine are the only important exceptions to this and their total amount in any rock is usually much less than 1%. The principal oxides are silica, alumina, iron oxides, lime, magnesia, potash and soda. The silica functions principally as an acid, forming silicates, and all the commonest minerals of igneous rocks are of this nature.

Internal Structure

The interior of Lianna, like that of the other terrestrial bodies, is chemically divided into layers. Lianna has an outer silicate solid crust, a highly viscous mantle, a liquid outer core that is much less viscous than the mantle, and a solid inner core. The crust is separated from the mantle, and the thickness of the crust varies: averaging 6 km under the oceans and 30–50 km on the continents.

Weather and Climate

Lianna's atmosphere has no definite boundary, slowly becoming thinner and fading into outer space. Three-quarters of the atmosphere's mass is contained within the first 12 km of the planet's surface. This lowest layer is called the troposphere. Energy from Lianna (sun) heats this layer, and the surface below, causing expansion of the air. This lower density air then rises, and is replaced by cooler, higher density air. The result is atmospheric circulation that drives the weather and climate through redistribution of heat energy.

The primary atmospheric circulation bands consist of the trade winds in the equatorial region below 36° latitude and the westerlies in the mid-latitudes between 36° and 73°. Ocean currents are also important factors in determining climate, particularly the thermohaline circulation that distributes heat energy from the equatorial oceans to the polar regions.

Water vapor generated through surface evaporation is transported by circulatory patterns in the atmosphere. When atmospheric conditions permit an uplift of warm, humid air, this water condenses and settles to the surface as precipitation. Most of the water is then transported back to lower elevations by river systems, usually returning to the oceans or being deposited into lakes. This water cycle is a vital mechanism for supporting life on land, and is a primary factor in the erosion of surface features over geological periods. Precipitation patterns vary widely, ranging from several meters of water per year to less than a millimeter. Atmospheric circulation, topological features and temperature differences determine the average precipitation that falls in each region.

Lianna can be sub-divided into specific latitudinal belts of approximately homogeneous climate. Ranging from the equator to the polar regions, these are the tropical (or equatorial), subtropical, temperate and polar climates. Climate can also be classified based on the temperature and precipitation, with the climate regions characterized by fairly uniform air masses. The commonly-used climate classification system has five broad groups (humid tropics, arid, humid middle latitudes, continental and cold polar), which are further divided into more specific subtypes.

Cities and Urban Areas

Largest Cities

Lianna City

Lianna City is the capital of Lianna, and home to over 500 million residents. Lianna City is based on the Bassalt River, which runs through the entire continent of Northshire. Lianna City is the home to most of the legislative and all of the executive branches of the Lianna Government, and the Legislature Building is hosted in the streets of Lianna City. Huge factories, most using actual workers, are hosted here to build starships, speeders, weapons, and materials. The city's skyline is dominated by over five hundred different skyscrapers, with the tallest: 1 Lianna Street, being in the middle of the city and all of the other towers playing down in height, which gives the city a look of a pyramid.

• City Government: The city is governed by a Governor-Board of Governor system, as it is a single state due to its huge size. The city's Board of Governors is a board of thirty district-governors, which are all elected from "boroughs" of the city. The boroughs are split up by location.
• Police: The police of the city is massive, over one and a half million officers protect the cites thirty boroughs. The police is equipped with fifteen police squadrons for air patrol, and over ten thousand speeders for air traffic and ground patrols. Patrols are commonly armed with shotguns, long range rifles, and every officer is equipped with a pistol. Since a city of this size has such large crime, these police officers are commonly one of the most challenged on the planet.
• Spaceport: There are a multitude of large spaceports all over the city, but there are six that are government owned. The spaceports are Lianna City Congressional Spaceport, which is located right near the congressional building, Lianna City West Spaceport, Lianna City North Spaceport, Lianna City East Spaceport, Lianna City South Spaceport, and Lianna Metro Spaceport.

Bedford

Bedford is an island city, located about 300 miles of Sky City and Preston's Hollow. The city is home to about 300 million residents, and is a major tourist destination. Bedford is also a major aquatic port for the Lianna Aquatic Navy, which is centered around Sky City, Lianna City, and Bedford. The aquatic navy is used to launch starfighters from mobile points so no missile can hit a non-mobile target. The ships are also able to act as a missile-defence system. Bedford's skyline is massive, close to ninety towers that are over three hundred floors, and about two hundred that are over two hundred stories. Almost every citizen of Bedford live in an apartment building, and only the wealthy live in massive townhouses just on the beach. Bedford is a stronghold for pro-military, pro-immigration city, and is consistent with the views of the more moderate Conservatives.

• City Government: Bedford is governed by a Mayor-Council system, as it's a city in the Northessex State. The city is split up into a council, governed by a majority of Conservative councilmen. Labour has been seeing a comeback, however, in the city.
• Police: The police of Bedford is all coordinated out of city hall. The Bedford police is not as large as Lianna City's police, but it is still rather large. The patrols are given airspeeders, and the police force is numbered around 800,000 officers.
• Spaceport: the spaceport of Bedford is huge, and it is a major import-export center known for its low tax rate on incoming and outgoing packages. The Bedford Air Guard also serves as a merchant fleet for the entire planet. Bedford's spaceport has about thirty different landing pads for major transports. There are over ninety single fighter landing pads for personal use, but they charge by size and length.

Londes

Londes is a city located in Buckland, which is home to three other major cities: Cardiff, Scotbrash, and Castle. All of those cities are considered part of the greater Londes area. Londes is populated by one hundred million citizens. Londes is home to the famed Lianna Missile Defence System (LMDS), which is the best funded government defence project in Buckland and surrounding areas. Buckland is on the port of the Rheines River, therefore it has, like Bedford, a major aquatic center for the aquatic navy. There is also a huge Lianna Navy Defence, which uses about two wings of old starfighters and five transports, plus old blockade runners that are mothballed from the Imperial and New Republic fleets and sold to Lianna. Londes is also the biggest banking center on Lianna, and home to the northern Stock Exchange.

• City Government: the city government is a President-Executive Council System. The President of Londes is a weakly powered official according to the constitution of Londes. The executive council is voted into office by the entire cities into their respective Ministries. There are ministries of state, transportation, education, etc. Londes is a Liberal Republic Party stronghold.
• Police: The police of Londes is a force of five hundred thousand officers. They patrol the city with their patrol craft, close to four thousand speeders, and they all are armed with assault rifles. The crime in Londes is relatively low, but they still need a high number of officers.
• Spaceport: there are four spaceports in Londes. The first and largest is military owned, and is used for all military transports. The second is owned by the Naklear Bank System, and is used for all commercial transport. The third and fourth spaceports are all publicly owned, but they are all charged by the size of the ship and the length of the stay.

Ford

Ford is a city structured on eight islands, all connected by huge floating bridges. Ford has fifty million citizens. Ford's buildings don't only go two hundred and fifty stories up, but they go down ninety stories into the ground. Ford has eight aquatic starfighter carriers, which hold eighty mothballed starfighters each, while most of them actually hold airspeeders. Ford's skyline is dotted by the six Rotunda Towers, all of which are in a circle and are interconnected by skybridges. The thirty other skycrapers are all built in the past forty years. Ford is home to the biggest factories, all underground, on Lianna. The factories are huge, and they repair mothball starfighters and starships. They also manufacture robots, such as some R-units that have been moved off of Coruscant for under priced labor.

• City Government: Ford is led by a Majority Leader, who is elected from the five islands. Each island has three senators, who are part of the Ford Senate. The Ford Senate elects a majority leader, is thereby elected as the Majority Leader, and the leader of Ford.
• Police: The Ford police is headed by a Chairman of Police, who is a member of the majority party of the Ford senate and heads the Chair of Law Enforcement. The police is in five different districts, all that have five hundred speeders and enough rifles for an army. There are two hundred and fifty thousand officers in the Ford Police Burough.
• Spaceport: All of the spaceports are headed by the Chairman of Transportation, and his two other senators. There are two spaceports in Ford, and mini-spaceports, fitting one transport that heads from island to island, on all islands that don't have spaceports.

Demographics

Populace

The population of Lianna numbers at 7.8 billion people. Eighty percent of these people live in urban areas of Lianna, and only 2 percent live in solidarity. The largest urban area on Lianna is Lianna City, having over 500 million people living in its boundaries. Currently, the majority (92.3%) of citizens on Lianna are humans. Also, the majority of representatives, senators, and elected officials are humans as well. The life expectancy of an average citizen, a human, on Lianna is 82.31 years for males and for females it is 85.49 years.

Language

Almost all of the citizens of Lianna speak Galactic Basic, while the minority of 3.01% speak other languages. Thirty percent of Lianna citizens are bi-lingual, with eighty percent of those bi-lingual people speaking Basic and Bocce, while another ten percent speak Rodian. Two percent speak Huttese. The Lianna Education System—the Ministry of Education—offers courses on almost all major languages, and many minor languages.

Education

All education on Lianna is taken over by the Minister of Education and his staff, also by the Lords and House Committees on Education.

Universities

There are eighty thousand different universities and colleges on Lianna, 30 percent of them being publicly owned. The most prestigious universities are the University of Lianna at Bedford, Lianna City, and Preston's Hollow, the University of Ford, Lianna Metro College, and Lianna Institute of Technology. All of the schools, including public, must be paid for, even if you have to give a tiny amount, and scholarships are regularly given.

Passing School

Passing School is the last required schooling that a citizen of Lianna is forced to take. Passing Schools are four years after Preparation School, and there is one in every city on Lianna. This usually prepares a citizen for what awaits them in college, and if they want to go onto a university (which 90 percent of all citizens do). Passing School, if public, is free of charge, but 30 percent of Passing Schools are private.

Preparation School

Preparation School is required of all Lianna citizens, and the ages go from 4-14. There is at least two Preparation Schools in every city with a population above 200 on Lianna. All public preparation schools are free of charge, but 50 percent of Preparation Schools are private and cost a fee.

Health

The health of Lianna is average. Over 15 percent of the entire planet is overweight, and 3 percent of children below 10 being overweight. 100 percent of citizens have health coverage, under the Health Act of 100 BBY, which allows the government to give loans to non-profits to pay for health care for everyone. The government's expense on health is 6.1 percent of all government spending. It ranks just .5 away from defence.

Crime and Punishment

Crime is relatively low in most urban areas of Lianna, thanks to the huge amount of police forces on the planet. Though, in rural areas, thieves take advantage of the low security to break in and steal. In most areas that are not in the bounds of a city, the Lianna National Guard would be in charge of such. Punishment of Lianna is characterized by the highest punishment, the death penalty, and the lowest penalty which is a thirty credit fine.

Economy

Currency

Lianna has dual currency: the Credit and the Lianna based Crossuin. The Credit transfers into the Crossuin in a four Credits to three Crossuins. The Lianna government has two hundred million credits in their reserve, and it is also universally accepted all around Lianna. The Lianna reserve has also taken over 30 different stable, and high valued currencies from other planets around the galaxy. Their entire reserve is worth over three billion Crossuins, and is all locked up in the Lianna City National Bank. The Crossuin Currency Exchange Center is centered in Londes, and all of the requests for more Crossuins to be printed go through the CEC.

Income, Development, and Social Class

The income of Lianna is unevenly spread out between the five continents and the islands around them. The average amount a worker makes on Lianna is 142,000 Crossuins. The highest income bracket is 300,000 average of Crossuins per person, the bracket is located the upper streets of a Ford neighborhood known as Spokantor. The development of Lianna has been steadying over the years, with the biggest spurt in growth being in 2,000 BBY, when the population went about 500 million. Lianna has developed into a highly respected system for their starfighter technology and intellect. The social classes are split into Lower (Poverty, Upper-Lower), Middle (Lower-, Upper-Middle), and High (Lower-, Upper-High). The majority of Lianna citizens are members of the upper-middle class and own a home.

Science, Technology, and Transportation

The science sect on Lianna is primarily located in Sky City. Scientific theories are commonly imported from more important core worlds, such as Coruscant and Corellia. Technology is booming on Lianna, with Santhe/Sienar Technologies. Santhe/Sienar produces a multitude of armored vehicles, starfighters, starships, and droids. Siener Technologies has made the Inter-Continental Transport System, under the Senate bill 92013 A. 5. The Inter-Continental Transport System is a series of tunnel, all connected to a main transit system that has over 70 tracks lined up next to each other. Eighty percent of the Inter-Continental Transport System—ICTS—is underwater. On the auxiliary tunnels, there is eight tracks going to stations all around Lianna and on the sides of the tracks in the auxiliary tunnels there are five lanes for tracked and speeder transport. On the main eighty tracks there are 30,000 ICTS transports, which are 500 feet long and three decks high. The decks are labled Economy, Business, and First. The prices depend on where you are being transported to. Other transport in Lianna is given to private starship transport lines, roads—which are extremely common—and aquatic transport.

Military

The military of Lianna is known as the Lianna National Guard, and is therefore placed under the United Kingdom of Planets of the Lianna System and her Outer Systems Armed Services. The entire military is mainly based of mobile missile sites, turret emplacements, and mobile aquatic fighter launchers. The aquatic fighter launchers are huge, almost 500 feet long, and based off of former aquatic vessel plans. They launch the mothballed fighters of the Lianna Nation Guard Air Force, which is numbered around 1,500 fifty or so year old fighters. Recently, the national guard was given a budget for new fighters and a few capital ships. They used this money to buy five or so Bothan Assault Frigates, and they purchased ten mothballed CR90s.

Planetary Defenses

The planetary defences consist of 1,500 mothballed fighters, five Bothan Assault Frigates, and ten mothballed CR90s. The placed defences on the planet are numbered around 10,000 turret emplacements. The turret emplacements are placed around major cities and can fire missiles and have eight or so large blasters that can swivel. There are speeders, over 30,000 of them, and over 20,000 tanks, all of which are old but can still fire, that move around to strategic locations and can shoot down an incoming fighter or direct fire on a single ship.

Military Bases

There are military bases dotting around Lianna, all of which are served by the Ministry of Defence.

History

Founding

Lianna was founded some 15,000 years ago by explorers traveling through the Perlemian Trade Route. Lianna was subsequently inhabited by the Tionese people, descending from Coruscant-based humans, who helped establish a form of government. Circa 3,653 BBY, Lianna had a population of about 40 million souls, mainly human. From there on the population steadily grew up to 2 billion in 2,000 BBY and by 1,100 BBY it had 5 billion inhabitants. In 900 BBY, the government of Lianna was at that time a constitutional monarchy, with a Monarch and a Chancellor under him or her. In 890 BBY, the monarch's powers began to dwindle down until the royal family of Lianna had barely any powers. As the monarch controlled the entire system of Lianna, they broke a deal with the system that would allow the planets in the system of either opt out of the monarch or still come under the monarch's control. The monarch, however, would still control the system of Lianna, which would and is called the United Kingdom of Planets of the Lianna System and her Outer Systems. All planets agreed to this, and the monarch currently rules the planet.

The first elections on Lianna without the monarch's presence were in 888 BBY, and the first Chancellor elected was Reginald de Bouf. He was a member of the Central Republic Party, which later transformed into the Conservative Party. The first elections were extremely peaceful, and there was almost no opposition to open elections. The cities of Sky City, Preston's Hollow, Ford, and Bedford were all founded around this time and the Lianna Stock Market was opened as well. The Lianna National Guard was created as well, and the Inter-Continental Transport System was in the opening process as well. Transportation and trade flourished as well, making Lianna a power house for her system.

Galactic Republic

Lianna entered the Galactic Republic in the year 881 BBY, and the former Chancellor—Reginald de Bouf—was elected to serve as the Senator for the system. At this time, the Liberal Democrats took the Chancellorship and the House of Representatives, while the Senate remained in Central Republic hands. The Lib Dems elected Ty Jameson as their first ever Chancellor, succeeding de Bouf's successor—Ello Crawford. The Galactic Republic, with de Bouf's urging, funded over 300 billion credits worth of new buildings, projects, and government-funded businesses. 10% of those funds went to fund Lianna's largest ever defense force, consisting of fifteen capital ships and over 200,000 soldiers.

Reginald de Bouf resigned his position as Galactic Senator in time for the 878 BBY elections, and brought together the Central Republic Party and the Lianna Unionist Parties—both right-wing parties—under the banner of the Conservative Party. The Conservative Party retained their majority in the Senate, and gained enough seats in the House for a minority government (a third party push captured Liberal Democrat seats). De Bouf, with the permission of the Senate and the House of Representative, formed the "House of Lords" and "Chamber of Earls" to please the Royalist bloc in Parliament, and began placing Lords and Earls into both of those positions. The House of Lords stood as an advisory house to the Chancellor, and Lords could serve as Chancellor, while the Chamber of Earls had the power to pass laws that affected super-states and states.

Chancellor de Bouf and his deputy resigned peacefully three years after he was inaugurated, and passed the torch onto Lord Carter and Senator Crawford, both Conservatives and Prime Minister and Deputy Minister respectively. At this time, the positions of Minister of Defense and Minister of Education, Woman's Rights, and Equality were created.

A huge period of Conservative dominance ensued, and for 300 consecutive years Conservatives held a majority in the Senate and House of Representatives, but after a major stock, housing, banking, and industrial market crash, the Conservatives lost their huge majority in favor of a small minority, being outpaced by most third parties. The Liberal Democrats controlled for fifty straight years, eventually switching off with the new Labour Party, which decimated both Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats at the polls. The Liberal Democrats turned into the Liberal Party and the newly created third party, the Democratic Party. The Conservatives made a comeback in the year 234 BBY, after Labour's long hold on the government, and the Conservative Party elected a brand new, moderate Chancellor with a minority coalition government. Millicent Bond became the first Conservative Chancellor in over 200 years and the first woman Chancellor ever.

Millicent Bond ushered in a new era of politics and brought the notable House of Ashford to the throne of Lianna. She instituted a constitutional system of government that was ruled by three branches: the executive (Chancellor), legislative (made up the House of Lords and the House of Commons), and judicial (the Supreme Court). These changes were widely heralded on bringing Lianna back on track with the world and slowing risky development.

Galactic Empire and Independence

Lianna flourished under the Empire, but the political climate stayed relatively the same. Conservatives and Liberals passed the Chancellorship around over five times during the Empire's stead, and by the time the Empire was destroyed, Lianna was in the hand of pro-Empire Liberals. They were voted out by a huge landslide, and the Conservatives were elected with a super majority. John Crawford and Donald Bacredi were elected as Chancellor and Speaker of the House respectively.
